Music of the Gothic Era
Early Music Consort of London
David Munrow(rec. 1975)
Zu hören ist Musik der Notre-Dame-Schule (ca. 1160/80 – 1230/50, hier vertreten durch die beiden wohl bekanntesten Exponenten: Leoninus, Perotinus), der Ars antiqua (ca. 1230-1330) und Ars nova (1320-1380). Aus letzteren beiden Epochen sind Motetten von Adam de la Halle und Petrus de Cruce sowie aus unbekannter Hand bzw. von Guillaume de Machaut, Philippe de Vitry und auch aus unbekannter Hand zu hören.
Etwas später Musik – Dufay, Ockeghem, Josquin – fasziniert mich schon seit einer Ewigkeit, aber bekannt waren mir früher in erster Linie ein paar der unterkühlten CDs des Hilliard Ensembles (auch die Machaut-CD, kann sein, dass ich diese sogar noch habe, muss mal etwas wühlen, ich verschenkte sie jedenfalls auch, als sie neu rauskam).

Auch die Munrow-CD oben lief gestern zweimal am Stück … und ich sah, dass es da auch eine 2CD-Ausgabe gibt, hm … jetzt die nächste CD aus der Archiv-Box, von der man das „Miserere“ auch auch in die Barock-Box gepackt hat (ans Ende der allerletzten CD, auf der Palestrina-Aufnahmen von Hogwood zu hören sind). Hier sind von Palestrina neben der Messe auch „Tu es Petrus“ zu hören, dann noch drei kürzere Stücke von Felice Anerio, Giovanni Bernardino Nanino und Ruggiero Giovannelli zu hören. Alle fünf waren sie Kapellmeister in Rom, standen zudem teils in Lehrer-Schüler-Beziehungen – eine CD also, die ganz der „römischen Schule“ gewidmet ist, die ich bisher wesentlich weniger gut kenne als die venezianische.

Das war Fleishers letzte Aufnahme als zweihändiger Pianist bis zur Mozart-Aufnahme von 2008 … wundervoll! Gefällt mir noch besser als seine D 960, die ich aber auch gleich nochmal anhören will.

Aber Gottlob Frick wird bitter vermisst … Koréhs Akzent ist schwer und heftig, er bemüht sich kaum, Konsonanten zu singen, das schmälert den Genuss doch ein wenig. Und der Belmonte von Simoneau bleibt mir von den Alten wohl – Wunderlich hin oder her – mein allerliebster. Aber ich sollte da nicht vorschnell sein, die Jochum-Aufnahme habe ich lange nicht gehört, sie packte mich aber auch nicht sehr, die spätere von Krips (mit Anneliese Rothenberger als Konstanze, Lucia Popp als Blonde, Nicolai Gedda als Belmonte und – wie es sich gehört – Frick als Osmin) ist auch klasse. Und trotz der eher schwachen Damen fand ich die Beecham-Aufnahme (mit Simoneau und Frick) toller als die von Jochum.
