How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?Mal wieder ein Abstecher in etwas gefälligere Gefilde … hier gibt es Swing mit feinsten Solisten: Benny Carter, Coleman Hawkins, Dicky Wells, Red Allen usw. Am Schlagzeug sitzt meist Sid Catlett, auch Teddy Wilson und Chu Berry tauchen auf. Hughes war ein Bandleader aus dem UK, der einige Sessions mit US-Musikern produzierte, die ab den frühen Dreissigern auch eigenes Material umfassen, das recht gut ist, manchmal nah bei Ellington (Arrangements, manchmal auch eigene Kompositionen, z.B. „Nocturne“, das den Auftakt der CD macht und erstklassigen Hawkins bietet).
