Das Ost-Berlin Konzert war sicherlich ein wichtiges Konzert für Springsteen, da es sein erstes überhaupt im ehemaligen Ostblock war. Monate später spielte er ja während der Human Rights Now-Tour in Budapest.
Ich persönlich glaube nicht, dass er jedes Konzert als sein bestes bezeichnet. Er hat ein gutes Gefühl dafür, ob er das was er im Konzert ausdrücken will auch herüberbringt.

Übrigens spielten Springsteen & die Streeters „Chimes of Freedom“ schon während der Darkness-Tour! Mussten also nicht mehr so viel üben, schon gar nicht wegen Ostberlin

Klar gibt es ja auch als EP. Aber in Rotterdam wurde der track beim Soundcheck bestimmt 30 Minuten geprobt…hatte für Springsteen schon eine besondere Bedeutung…

Oh, Springsteen unterscheidet sehr genau zwischen guten, sehr guten und nicht so gelungenen Gigs (schlechte gibts ja bei ihm eigentlich nicht! ;-))
So hat er z.B. in mehreren Interviews den europäischenTeil der Rising-Barnstorming-Tour im Herbst 2002 als eine der intensivsten seiner ganzen Karriere bezeichnet, 2 Gigs hob er davon nochmal heraus, nämlich Barce und Berlin (YES!! Lars!!!).
Und sogar während der Gigs reagiert er darauf, wenns seiner Meinung nach nicht so läuft, so hatte er z.B. in Ludwigshafen 03 das „Detroit-Medley“ auf der setlist, aber nachdem das Publikum nicht ganz so ausgefreakt is – war auch mein Empfinden – gabs stattdessen das kürzere und nicht ganz so intensive „Glory days“--

Details about Born to Run box set seeping outIt could be a rumor or it could be fact. According to AOL Music, the Born to Run 30th Anniversary edition will include a 44 page, full color booklet of unpublished photos, a digitally remastered version of the CD, Live In London, a never before seen, complete two hour concert from the Born To Run tour that was shot by the BBC in November, 1975 at the Hammersmith Odeon, a second DVD with The Making Of Born To Run, which is supposedly a brand new documentary including new interviews with Bruce, the entire band and recording team, plus extensive archival photos, unreleased versions of songs and historic, previously unseen footage from the Springsteen vaults. As an added bonus, the set includes Bruce’s historic 1973 performance from the CBS Records Convention in Los Angeles„. The whole shebang is supposedly going to be released on November 15.
Es wird auf jedenfall etwas sehr „Großes“ für die Fans geben, soviel steht wohl fest …

Thom Zimny, the editor of all of Springsteen’s recent concert films (Live in New York City, Live in Barcelona, VH1 Storytellers) brought a treat for the conference crowd on Sunday: a sneak peak of the Hammersmith Odeon DVD, which will present the complete 11/18/75 London show as part of the upcoming Born to Run 30th Anniversary reissue. Yes, we’ve finally gotten official confirmation of at least some of the much-rumored additional content for this package, and what better confirmation than two songs played in full, „She’s the One“ and „Quarter to Three“ — in full color and at full blast.
Just days before the London show, Mike Appel approached Mike Appleton (original producer of the Old Grey Whistle Test) and asked if he’d film the performance. Most of the reulsting 16mm negatives sat in a storage locker — in unlabeled cannisters — for the better part of 30 years, until Zimny was asked to work his magic. You might have already seen some circulating footage from the show… but you ain’t seen nothin‘ yet. Zimny spent the better part of a year piecing together footage from three cameras, restoring it frame-by-frame, synching it up with pristine audio (mixed by Bob Clearmountain in both stereo and surround), and the result is a jaw-dropper!!!

Winterland wurde nicht gefilmt, nur das Roxy-Konzert 78 und das kommt dann zum Jubiläum des Darkness-Albums in 3 Jahren

Peter Gabriel, der damals dabei war, sagte nachher, es war für ihn das zweitbeste Konzert seines Lebens, nach Otis Redding!
Die Setlist IST der Hammer, nie wieder hat Brucie z.B. in einem Konzert so viele Covers gespielt, war sein Tribute an die „british Invasion“, die ihn ja auch zielmlich beeinflusst hat. Freut Euch u.a. auf:(ich hoffe, ich kriegs jetzt ausm Kopp zusammen)1) The E Street Shuffle (als Ballade, GEIL!!!!!!)

Paar Infos noch: Mike Appel hatte damals angeregt, Bruce’s erste Auslandsauftritte zu filmen/tapen; er wollte nach „Born to run“ nämlich am liebsten ein Live-Album raushauen!
Bruce spielte ja damals 2 Auftritte in London, der erste gehört zu seinen schlechtesten überhaupt, total genervt vom Btr-Hype in den US, sah er bei seiner Ankunft in London überalll in der ganzen Stadt Plakate mit „Finally London is ready for Bruce Springsteen“, laut Dave Marsh soll er kurz vorm Auftritt rumgerannt sein und überalle diese Plakate von den Mauern gerissen haben, dann einen extrem übellaunigen Gig gespielt und das letzt was man an diesem Abend von ihm sah, wie er danach in den nächstbesten Pub einschwenkte
Achso: Optisch gibts denn auch was zu sehen: Die Streeters im allerfeinsten 70er-„mean streets“-Outfit und Bruce – eben genervt vom „I saw Rock’n’Roll-Future“ Hype hat sich von lederjacke, jeans und sneakers getrennt und kommt uns im Duck-Slattery-Tankwart-Outfit, sprich riesengroße Kopfsocke (und das zu einer Zeit, als es das Wort Hip-Hop noch nicht mal gab) und Schlabberhosen, GROSS! (Einzelne Szenen dieser Show gab übrigens schon mal in der holländischen Doku „A secret history“ (zu seinem 50.) zu sehen
Ist einer meiner Lieblingsbootlegs (diese ENERGIE!!!) und wenn das wirklich auf DVD rauskommt, wow!!!!!!!uiui, habe gerade gesehen, daß ich vom 2. der beiden London-Konzerte 75 sprach, nämlich das vom 24.11., was nun auf DVD rauskommt ist das erste vom 18.11., das -wie oben beschrieben – von Bruce ja selbst als relativ besch…eiden bezeichnet wurde, hm…is aber halt das einzige Bild-Material, dass es aus dem Born to run-Jubeljahr gibt, bin seeeeehr gespannt!

Finally, the world is ready for the Born to Run 30th Anniversary reissue. Due on November 15, the box set will include three discs: „Hammersmith Odeon, London ’75,“ an astonishing film of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s legendary November 18 concert; the new documentary film „Wings For Wheels: The Making of Born To Run;“ and the classic album in remastered CD form. With its two DVDs, the package offers approximately four hours of previously unseen footage. Personally supervised by Bruce Springsteen and Jon Landau, the set includes a 48-page photo album of previously unpublished photographs, with an introduction written by Springsteen.
„I believe that the combination of the great 1975 concert footage, the brilliant documentary of the making of the album and the dazzling remastering of ‚Born to Run‘ add up to a nearly perfect storm of Bruce’s music,“ said longtime manager Jon Landau.
Hammersmith Odeon, London ’75 will be the first and only full-length concert film ever released of Bruce and the E Street Band’s first 25 years. The multiple-camera film of the complete concert will be available in its entirety and its original sequence, as newly edited by Emmy Award Winner Thom Zimny. Zimny’s production team painstakingly cleaned the original negatives and digitally restored the footage, ultimately presenting this indispensable concert in vibrant color and detail. Producer Bob Clearmountain remastered and remixed the DVD in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. (Zimny has worked with Springsteen on several projects, including editing the Live in New York City, Live in Barcelona, and VH1 Storytellers films. Für mich als Springsteen-Afinicado – gerade der frühen Jahre – ist das fast schon zuviel, bin ähnlich aufgeregt wie damals bei „Tracks“, der macht mich fertich, der Boss ;-))--

Schade (wenn auch verständlich), dass nur Auszüge aus diesem grandiosen Konzert zu sehen sein werden. Aber immerhin: mein Favorit Kitty ist dabei.
