I had no urge to lead a band of my own all the time I was with Krzysztof Komeda. He was such a strong force, the music was so original and he always gave me plenty of space for self-expression and interpretation. Listening closely to this recording [Litania, ECM, 1997] I realized how much I’m influenced by him. I’m happy that I had my own sound – from the beginning. But I take Komeda’s lyricism in the things that I play and that I write. He showed me how simplicity is vital, how to play the essential. He showed different approaches, using different harmonies, asymmetry, many details. […]

Da kenne ich wenig … aber in den frühen Jahren am Sax finde ich ihn meist ziemlich gut.

Da kenne ich wenig … aber in den frühen Jahren am Sax finde ich ihn meist ziemlich gut.
Auf jeden Fall eine sehr interessante Combo. Und auch die Komposition gefällt mir ziemlich gut. Ein sehr „sprechender“ Titel.
