Spuren habe ich auch immer verfolgt, allerdings nicht immer direkt über „Soul“, „Time Is on My Side“ von Irma Thomas ist für mich z.B. mehr Gospel als Soul und das ist gut so. Bei mir waren es hauptsächlich noch andere Quellen, wie z.B. Elvis, Ry Cooder, Spacemen 3, Martin Gore („all kinds of new music – not just electronic music, gospel and blues … I’m just a fan of music.“) und ein wenig auch über den Jazz (Ellington/Mahalia Jackson, Mingus, Horace Silver) und den Blues/Rhythm & Blues (Fred McDowell, Tarheel Slim, Clyde McPhatter u.a.).
