Eine Glosse, die Scott Fields anscheinend auf Facebook gepostet hat, bringt meine Kritik an der Verschulung des Jazz sehr schön auf den Punkt:
A guy tells a story on himself. Great story, so well told.
You tell a story on yourself. No good.
You tell his story saying you heard from him. No good.
You tell the story as though it’s yours. No good.
You tell it the way he told it. No good.
You tell it as though it’s about you, the way he told it, and you imitate his voice and dress like him.
Still not as good, but you’re ready to graduate from jazz conservatory.
