Die Bennett-Box scheint tendentiell eher grösser zu werden (oder, falls die Singles als Bonustracks auf die Alben gepappt werden, wesentlich mehr Bonusmaterial als die Miles-Box zu enthalten, die soweit ich weiss abgesehen von „Isle of Wight“ auf CD und der DVD sowie zwei [von insgesamt vier, zwei fehlen immer noch!] der Bonustracks von Paris 1949 mit Tadd Dameron, kein Bonusmaterial enthielt).

By my count (with a little help from the official discography contained in Fifty Years!), Bennett has released 70 albums on the Columbia label (including greatest hits compilations and live albums, etc.) between 1950’s Because of You and 2011’s Duets II. Of these albums, over 50 of them are original studio albums (though some compilations contain unique material) and three are live albums (1962, 1971, 1994). Throw in his 1958 Count Basie collaboration on the Roulette label, two albums for MGM in 1972-1973, the Bill Evans set on Fantasy and five more albums (one live, four studio) on his own Improv label, and we’re looking at nearly 70 discs, at least (1962’s Tony Bennett at Carnegie Hall, for instance, is 2 CDs in its expanded form). (How exciting that Legacy is apparently taking the extra step of licensing the non-Columbia albums!) There are legendary unreleased albums and live sets, not to mention a large number of singles that have never been released on compact disc. Much of Bennett’s earliest singles catalogue has been arriving from U.K. public domain labels, but his early hits deserve the official, remastered treatment. He hasn’t always spoken fondly of the Mitch Miller-directed material he was recording early in his career, so the inclusion of these tracks would be a most special treat for collectors.
Also ca. 70 Alben plus die Live-Sessions und Singles und unter den Alben einige Doppel-Alben. Da würd ich eher mt 80-90 CDs rechnen.
Was die Miles-Box betrifft, hier hat sie anfangs über 300 CHF gekostet (320 glaub ich), aber damals war der Euro noch etwas Wert, wären wohl so um die 230-240€ gewesen). Was sie jetzt kostet weiss ich nicht, aber die anfänglichen Verarbeitungsprobleme haben mich endgültig von der Idiotie abgehalten, mir die Box zu kaufen (von der ich abgesehen von der DVD, den zwei von vier Paris 1949 Bonustracks und der Japan-CD mit mehr von „We Want Miles“ alles schon habe).
Die „Trumpet-Case“-Box fand ich für die stellenweise guten Preise (300$ oder so?) wesentlich attraktiver, aber auch die habe ich alle und ich glaub „Plugged Nickel“ und „Cellar Door“ und „At the Blackhawk“ fehlten da auch noch).
