Who influenced your playing?
H.T.: I would say Art Tatum and Samuel Browne had an influence on my playing, and a cat named Roosevelt Wardell. There are several people I love to listen to as far as influence. If I was to buy piano records I would buy Andrew Hill, Randy Weston, people like Red Garland. The way Andrew plays, I love it… it’s creative all the time.
