8 What They Do (take 13) (M. Davis) 6:13
*9 What They Do (take 14) (M. Davis) 12:17
The two takes of „Sound“ are Lucas solos enhanced with Teo Macero’s studio effects. „Hip Skip“ was first performed in August at Paul’s Mall. An excerpt of take 14 of „What They Do“ was used in a remix for the TDK session dated December 27, 1976, part of which is included (three times) on KOB 002. According to Pat Buzby, Pete Cosey plays drums on „Hip Skip“ because Al Foster was ill and arrived late at the session. Apparently Cosey also played drums when the group performed this tune live.

Minnie (take 7, different mix) (M. Davis) 4:06
Untitled original 750505 (take 2) (M. Davis) 6:16
„Two…“ Rhythm section only
Notes:
„Minnie“ is listed as „Latin“ on KOB 002 („Unknown Sessions, Vol. 1“)
„Minnie“ is based on „Lovin‘ You“ by Richard Rudolph and Minnie Riperton, a tune which appeared on the latter’s Perfect Angel album in 1974. It also appears as the title tune on Al Foster’s Mr. Foster (Better Days (J) YX-7599), recorded in August 1979 — which makes Sony’s choice of „Mr. Foster“ for the title of a completely different tune recorded in September 1973 (and which also had a perfectly good title, „For Dave“) particularly silly.
„Untitled original 750505“ quickly entered the live book and was a standard set closer during May-July 1975. Davis occasionally plays organ during this tune. The influence of Jimi Hendrix is evident.

Song of Landa (take 6) (S. Morrison-M. Davis) 4:44
Note: The identity of the keyboard player is a mystery. Davis, playing only organ, sounds uninterested in the proceedings, and the playing is pretty uninspired throughout.
