Rocky Morales, West Side tenor sax legend, died Wednesday afternoon at
University Hospital. He had a long fight with cancer.
Morales, trumpeter Charlie McBirney and another saxophonist, Louie
Bustos, began playing together in the 1960s. Another San Antonian,
performer Doug Sahm, gave them the name the West Side Horns when they
joined his band.
After years of playing nightclubs, the Horns released their first album
„San Quilmas“ in 2002.
