„I have to laugh when I look at the people I’ve gathered – it’s gonna
be so cool“, sa vibraphonist and composer Øyvind Brandtsegg when he
presented the Kanon project last year. And it was really cool at
Trondheim Jazzfestival, and now it’s time to repeat the success. With
Motorpsycho at its core and Matias Eick – trumpet, Thomas Dahl –
gitar, Mattis Kleppen – bass og Ø Brandtsegg on vibraphone, Øyvind has
created music that goes beyond any genre borders. The starting point
is songs and „quotes“ from bands like The Police, Beck, Prince, Bjørk
and Bob Marley, and based on this they’ve created a compositorial (?)
unit that gives space for improvisation and being playful.
