Axl Rose’s Twitter Hacked, Guns N‘ Roses Shows Not Canceled
Twitter has apparently become the font of all knowledge for music news of late, even though the social networking service is easily hacked and fake accounts proliferate throughout the site. This didn’t prevent numerous outlets from reporting that all upcoming Guns N’ Roses live dates were canceled earlier today, when a tweet appeared on Axl Rose’s account that said: „All upcoming Guns N‘ Roses dates are officially canceled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds.“
A spokesperson was immediately called into action, denying that any shows had been nixed by the band, and claiming that a mysterious hacker had worked some magic with Rose’s Twitter feed to bring the falsified news. Guns N’ Roses are set to play huge headline shows at the Reading and Leeds festivals in England next week, which were mentioned in the statement:
„(We) are informed by GN’R management that Guns N‘ Roses have NOT cancelled their performances at Reading & Leeds and that Axl Rose’s Twitter account was hacked into and all claims of dates being cancelled are unfounded.” It’s too bad the hacker couldn’t come up with anything more creative—even a claim that Slash had rejoined the band, or that Axl was planning a grime album, would have been more amusing than this.
