Heute habe ich mir das Album nach langer Zeit mal wieder in voller Länge gegönnt. Natürlich kann man es als aufgeblasenes Etwas empfinden, auch als vielfältiges Kaleidoskop, es ist auch allemal nachvollziehbar, dass es sehr different bewertet wird. Selbst nur bei mir kommt es auf die Tagesform an, wie ich es empfinde. Doch auch heute war die Faszination unter dem Strich wieder groß.
Grobklotzige Schlachtrösser wie „Snakepit“ oder „The kiss“ begegnen herrlichen Popkompositionen. Tatsächlich fand ich The Cure auf Albumlänge (und hier ja sogar Doppelalbumlänge!) nie besser/interessanter. Selbst „Disintegration“ vermittelt mir nicht dieses Erlebnis.
