THE JAM ? BOOK SIGNING
To promote his new photo book on top UK band of the 70s and 80s, The Jam,Neil ‚Twink‘ Tinning will be making an in-store appearance at the Reflex CD shop at 23 Nun Street, Newcastle on Thursday 8th November at 5.30pm.Twink will be signing copies of the book, entitled ‚The Jam Unseen‘,chatting about how the photos came about and what it was like to spend time on the road and in the studio with one of the most iconic British bands of all time. Copies of the book will, of course, be available to purchase on the night for around £20. A BBC film crew will be in attendance to film proceedings as part of the documentary they are doing on Twink for Comic Relief 2008, which focuses on his tireless work for people working with mental health. Twink spent the majority of 1982 with The Jam as their official photographer and was given free-reign to ’snap‘ away and his collection of images has remained unpublished until now. The book features a selection of 200 photographs in technicolour and black and white, with brief notes from the author about each picture.
Paul Weller recently commented on the book, „I think it’s excellent. It really captures a moment in time with the pictures. Thought it was really good.“
The launch of the book ties in nicely with the latest UK Tour of the band that features 2/3 of the original line-up, From The Jam, and the band play Newcastle Carling Academy in December. Bruce Foxton & Rick Buckler have provided a foreword for the book that reveals it to be „a gift to Jam fans around the world, defining an era that was special for all of us.“
Drop in to Reflex on Thursday 8th November to meet Twink and hear first hand about the final year of one of the greatest bands of all time. To whet your appetite, selected images from the book are available to view at
