kennt den hier jemand? im frühjahr 2005 soll ein neues album veröffentlicht werden… ob das in deutschland offiziell erhältlich sein wird, ist jedoch sehr fraglich, da das fantastische debüt-album (vö: 2003, produced by dave trumfio & pp) meines wissens nach nie offziell in deutschland erschienen ist, geschweige denn die ep „under the unminding skies“. auch schön, wenn auch etwas skizzenhaft das ganze.

wer ryan adams mag, dürfte auch an patrick park gefallen finden. :)

„DOA: So what was the experience of recording that album?

PP: Well, it was…what was the experience?

DOA: Yeah, like in comparison to The Basement Tapes. How was this one different?

PP: Basically, this one was different in that I had the means to do a lot more with it. I really like songs when they are done in a stripped-down, bare-minimum kind of way, but I really like a lot of rock and roll records. Especially a lot from the 60s and stuff like that, and I wanted to incorporate more things, like a full-on singer/songwriter, folk record. I think all the songs kind of come from that. I think all American music comes from folk songs and from the blues, but I don’t really want to make a record that is that minimal – at least not on the first time out. I mean, I didn’t find a record deal until after the record was actually finished (laughing). I made that record without the help of a record company for the most part. Meeting up with Dave (Trumfio) and clicking with him, and he has a great studio and gave me the opportunity to run with that.

DOA: He recognized your talent before anyone else did, didn’t he?

PP: Yeah, I gave him a little four-song demo that I had done, and he called me back the next day and said, “Let make a record.”

DOA: So, when you were in the studio, was there a sense that you wanted to make this timeless, singer/songwriter album?

PP: Well, I mean, you always want to make something timeless, don’t you? No one goes into the studio saying, “I want to make some dated piece of crap that’s going to be totally irrelevant in six months.” (laughing). At least, I don’t think they do. I hope they don’t. I definitely had ambition toward that. It was more accentuating what was already there, and the feeling of the songs was already there. I mean, there are a lot of elements on the album; it’s definitely very full. (I was) trying not to add anything that didn’t belong there. A lot of times when bands or musicians go into the studio, they throw all this stuff in there, just because they can, and it loses all the feeling of it. But it’s kind of a fine line; you want to throw some cool stuff in there, but you don’t want to lose the feeling. So, I was definitely trying not to put anything in there that didn’t belong there. I think we did a pretty good job of that.“

Funny fan stories…no. No funny stories.

Nobody’s freaked you out yet?

People have freaked me out a little bit. I don’t know. A mother and daughter once asked me to sign their breasts…that was kinda of freaky. It was here [in San Francisco] when I was opening for Beth Orton.

Did you do it?

No, I ran away!

Hallihallo…Man trifft irgendwie immer die gleichen Leute, nicht wahr?;-)

Ich warte auch sehr gespannt auf was neues von PP. „Loneliness knows my name“ ist völlig unbegreiflicher weise ja hier fast vollständig ignoriert worden, kann mir nicht vorstellen, das das neue Album hier veröffentlicht wird. Das bedeutet auch leider keine Tour….:-(

hm. ja. irgendwie schon. ;) …… lass mich zitieren: „Sie wissen nämlich, dass die kleine (im Britpop-Bereich auf deutschlandweit 5000 Personen geschätzte) Spezialisten-Kundschaft schon in der Auslandspresse oder im Internet von der Platte gelesen hat und die Deutschland-Verspätung nicht abwarten wird.“ (aktueller rolling stone) sollte es die jemals geben, hätten wir hier wohl einen neuen rekord. ;)
wobei´s auch gut 2 jahre oder so gedauert hat, bis damien rice`s „o“ in deutschland veröffentlich wurde.
auf wie viele personen wird wohl die americana/folk-kundschaft geschätzt? :lol:

keine ahnung. ist wohl noch nicht bekannt.

aber hab das hier grad auf der site gefunden: „Patrick plays on the Everyone Down here album by Earlimart“. hat jedoch nur 3 sterne von amg bekommen. die anderen bekamen 4 (bis auf das erste, das gar nicht bewertet wurde)….
