im sh forum gibt es gerade einen pink-floyd song-by-song thread… da gab es zum ummagumma studioalbum den folgenden gedankengang, fand ich ganz amüsant:
I can just imagine the scenario when the idea of the solo tracks was brought up (surely Roger’s idea?)
Roger: „OK, so it’s agreed, we’ll do one live side and one side where each of us does a solo track?“
Rick: „Yes, I’ve got some half-digested ideas pinched from avant-garde classical that I can use to fool people into thinking we’re really cutting edge and experimental“.
David: „I’m in. I’m going to show the world that I can play bass better than you, keyboards better than you and drums better than him and write a better song than all three of you.“
Roger: „Great! And Nick? Nick? Nick, have you been listening to any of this?“
Nick: „What? Yes, of course I have, we’re doing a live album.“
Roger: „And the solo tracks….“
Nick: „What?“
Roger: „We’re all recording solo tracks.“
Nick: „Well, good luck then! If any of you need any help with them just give me a shout. Otherwise I’ll be on the beach in Marbella.“
Roger: „When I say we’re all recording solo tracks, that includes you.“
Nick: „Me? Record a solo track? Are you serious?“
Roger; „Deadly.“
Nick: „Oh! Crikey. I’d better tell the wife to cancel the holday and bring her flute along then“.
