Heute lief auch zum ersten Mal die neue Scheibe von British Progressive Jazz – zwei ca. 21 minütige Stücke von Mike Osbornes Quartett (Alan Skidmore, Harry Miller, Louis Moholo) aus dem 100 Club in London, aufgenommen im Dezember 1970. Die Veröffentlichung ist Mike King gewidmet, der das Tape aus Osbornes Sammlung gerettet und auch gemastert hatte. Sehr, sehr toll!
Jetzt noch ein Nachzügler, eher Blues als Vocaljazz, aber bei Witherspoon war ich in dem Kontext ja auch nochmal, und das LPR/Digipack-Reissue von diesem 1967 mit Jack McDuffs Combo aufgenommenem Album hatte ich 2005 völlig verpasst. In der band sind die Saxer Danny Turner und Leo Johnson, Gitarrist Melvin Sparks (sehr bluesy), dazu Jiymie Merritt am Bass und Ray Appleton am Schlagzeug.
