Tony Bennett – If I Ruled the World: Songs for the Jet Set | Das ist schon alles toll gesungen … hier gibt es Gastauftritte u.a. von Carlos Lyra (der 1965 auch mit Getz in Japan war), Al Cohn und auch von Joe Marsala (cl) und Bobby Hackett (uke) in „Sweet Lorraine“, wo es kurz am Dixieland vorbeischrammt. Sonst gibt es Bossa („Samba de avião“ mit Lyra zum Einstieg, „How Insensitive“ und so halbwegs in Legrands „Watch What Happens“), Showtunes im Showgewand, etwas Swing … die Reisestationen sind: Copacabana (Rio), The Moon („Fly Me to the Moon“ als richtig langsame Schmelz-Ballade), nochmal Rio, London, Harlem (mit Ellington), Venedig (mit Sondheim), Hollywood (mit Peggy Lee), Chicago (Dixie), Dreamland (mit Lalo Schifrin und Gene Lees‘ „The Right to Love“), Frankreich, Florida und Cloud Nine (Rodgers/Sondheim mit „Two by Two“). Und einen einzelnen Bonustrack von den Sessions gibt es auch noch, „Falling in Love with Love“. Don Costa hat arrangiert, als Basisgruppe zwischen den Streichorchestern und den Gästen ist das Ralph Sharon Trio zu hören (Hal Gaylor, Billy Exiner), undd die Will Bronson Singers tauchen auch ab und zu auf.
