Jack White Convinced the Prince Estate to Let Him Drop the Mythical, Unreleased ‘Camille’. Third Man co-founder Ben Blackwell says “Prince’s people agreed” to let the label issue the artist’s scrapped 1986 effort

Habe ich gar nicht mitgekriegt. Jack White plant wohl, das nie erschienene Prince-Album Camille herauszubringen.

While a handful of test-pressings of the album were made, a full release was ultimately scrapped.

In the decades since, those test pressings have become major record collector grails, occasionally popping up at auction. White told Mojo he paid $49,375 for one of the copies because, as he put it, “We had to show we had some skin in the game.”

While Camille never saw the light day, all eight tracks were eventually released in a different form.

Side 1:

Rebirth Of The Flesh (4:54)
Housequake (4:34)
Strange Relationship(4:04)
Feel U Up (6:27)

Side 2:

Shockadelica (6:12)
Goodlove (5:11)
If I Was Your Girlfriend (4:47) (omits the ‘street vendor/Wedding March’ intro)
Rockhard In A Funky Place (4:30)*

All tracks written by Prince (to be credited to Camille) except where noted.
*Music written by Prince and Eric Leeds
