Ja, von Taj Mahal und The Band über Abdullah Ibrahim bis zur Avantgarde – ein umwerfender Musiker!
Live gehört habe ich ihn 2011 im Moods in Zürich mit der George Gruntz Concert Jazz Band … Johnsons Solo-Feature war eins der Highlights, ein langes Solo, das später in ein Stück führte … er kam nach vorn, vor die Sax-Section, und tanzte beim Spielen eine Art Tuba-Bärentanz. Am Ende gab’s da auch noch ein Duett mit Gary Smulyan am Barisax.
