GET BACK TO BASICS!
The long-awaited ’naked‘ version of THE BEATLES‘ album ‚LET IT BE‘ is finally to be released next month.
Out November 17, ‚Let It Be…Naked‘ removes producer Phil Spector’s orchestrations, choirs and effects from the mix. Paul McCartney has long voiced his unhappiness with the original mix, especially the orchestration on his song ‚The Long And Winding Road‘.
The majority of ‚Let It Be‘ was recorded in 1969 for an album and film project, originally called ‚Get Back‘, showing The Beatles returning to their roots as a four-piece rock-and-roll band.
However, the group was in the process splitting up and the album was abandoned, with ‚Abbey Road‘ coming out before it, despite being recorded later. Phil Spector was brought in to complete the ‚Let It Be‘ album.
There is also a change to the original tracklisting – background dialogue, ‚Dig It‘ and ‚Maggie Mae‘ have been taken off the album, and ‚Don’t Let Me Down‘ has been added.
Paul McCartney said: „If we had today’s technology back then, it would sound like this because this is the noise we made in the studio. It’s exactly as it was in the room. You’re right there now.“
The new tracklisting reads:
‚Get Back‘
‚Dig A Pony‘
‚For You Blue‘
‚The Long And Winding Road‘
‚Two Of Us‘
‚I’ve Got A Feeling‘
‚One After 909‘
‚Don’t Let Me Down‘
‚I Me Mine‘
‚Across The Universe‘
‚Let It Be‘The album will be issued together with a bonus fly-on-the-wall disc that features extracts from tapes of the legendary band during the making of the ‚Let It Be‘ album and movie in the late ’60s. There will also be a booklet that features historic photography of the recording sessions and extracts of band dialogue from the original booklet that first accompanied early copies of the 1970 album.
