Jimi Hendrix Experience – Live in Maui
(BD/2CD, BD/3LP, 20. November 2020)

Vermutlich bin ich mal wieder der letzte, der das mitkriegt, aber auf die Schnelle fand ich hier noch keinen Hinweis darauf …

This brand new collection couples the new feature-length documentary Music, Money, Madness . . . Jimi Hendrix In Maui with the accompanying live performances on both audio and video. The film chronicles the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s storied visit to Maui, and how the band became ensnared with the ill-fated Rainbow Bridge movie and incorporates never-before-released original footage and new interviews. The Blu-ray includes the full documentary film plus all the footage from the two afternoon performances captured on July 30, 1970 mixed in both stereo and 5.1 surround sound. Also included in the package is Live In Maui – a 2 CD set or 3 LP set featuring Hendrix, Billy Cox, and Mitch Mitchell at the height of their playing powers, newly restored and mixed by longtime Hendrix engineer Eddie Kramer.

After flying to the Island of Maui for a special filmed project by Manager, Michael Jeffrey, Hendrix, Cox, and Mitchell perform for an invitiation-only crowd of 500 people for the Rainbow Bridge Vibratory Color Sound Experiment on the Haleakala Crater on the Island of Maui. Portions of the performance are included on the posthumously released motion picture Rainbow Bridge. Although the entire performance has yet to be officially released, Hendrix’s two sets atop the Haleakala Creater included: (First set) “Spanish Castle Magic,” “Lover Man,” “Hey Baby (New Rising Sun),” “In From The Storm,” “Message To Love,” “Foxey Lady,” “Hear My Train A Comin’,” “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” “Fire,” and “Purple Haze.” (Second set) “Dolly Dagger,” “Instrumental,” “Ezy Rider,” “Red House,” “Freedom,” “Beginnings,” “Straight Ahead,” “Hey Baby (New Rising Sun),” “Stone Free,” and “Hey Joe.” Jimi Hendrix is photographed during The Experience’s July 30, 1970 performance atop the Haleakala Crater on the Island of Maui in Hawaii. This show is the main subject of the film ‘Rainbow Bridge.’
