Der texanische Singer-Songwriter und Gitarrist Eric Taylor ist am Montag im Alter von 70 Jahren gestorben.
Gesundheitlich war es ihm ja schon längere Zeit sehr schlecht gegangen.
Habe Eric Taylor eigentlich über Lyle Lovett kennengelernt, der ja mehrere von Eric Taylors Songs aufgenommen hat: „Memphis Midnight/Memphis Morning“ für sein 1998er-Album „Step Inside this House“, „Whooping Crane“ für sein 2009er-Album „Natural Forces“ und „Understand You“ für sein 2012er-Album „Release Me“.
Lyle Lovett hat dann am Dienstag auch folgendes Statement veröffentlicht: „Eric Taylor passed away yesterday, 3/9/20. He was my friend. He invited me to sit in with him in 1978 as a way to introduce me to Anderson Fair, the original music venue in Houston that is still so important to me, the first place I was able to play a set of my own songs. His friends became my friends; he made me part of his family. Eric let me open shows for him and encouraged me endlessly, giving me confidence in my writing. I pray God comfort his wife, Susan, his children, Nathan and Alex, and all of us who loved and admired him.“
Eric Taylor hat nicht viele Platten veröffentlicht. „Shameless Love“ von 1981 und seine zweite Platte „Eric Taylor“ von 1995 sind jedoch ohne Zweifel beide hervorragend. Die neueren Platten kenne ich weniger gut.
