Serge Chaloff – Buvette Club, Rock Island, February 1953 (Uptown) | Auf amazon.com für später im Januar angekündigt … auf der Uptown-Seite gut versteckt und ohne genaue Angaben, aber mit dieser Beschreibung:
After Woody Herman broke up his “Four Brothers” band in 1949, baritone saxophonist Serge Chaloff returned to Boston where he appeared locally until a driven Boston judge declared a “war on drugs”. Serge’s car was seized, whereupon Chaloff decided in a hurry to leave town.He ended up in Rochester,NY where he picked up a rhythm section and toured the backroads ‚ jazz clubs playing such places as Hagerstown, Maryland and Idaho Falls, Idaho. Bassist Al Dimino recorded this appearance at the Buvette Club , billed as Serge Chaloff and His Woody Herman All Stars. It is extraordinary to hear poll-winner Chaloff (both Downbeat and Metronome) in this jazz club in 1950s downtown Rock Island, Illinois.
Grossartig!
