Alleine die Zeile „I rescued you in so many ways / You’re good for a laugh / That’s all you can say“ ist ganz groß; und entbehrt nicht einer gewissen Komik – aus dem Munde Morrisseys.
Dieses ganz Große, Mächtige, Kriegerische und das vermeintlich harmlose unbedeutende bescheidene Private so gegenübergestellt finde ich unheimlich faszinierend. Der Wunsch die gefühlslose Waffe am Ende zu erweichen durch seine Berührung (this time he does end up with solids)… und wie er das zweite Mal energisch „I am so tired of counting the days“ singt… ganz großartig.
Pathos höre ich da gar nicht. Sehnsucht, ja. Und Hingabe.
Perlende Gitarren? Auch spannend.
