Fourteen tracks recorded at Neil Hemphill’s studio in Birmingham, Alabama in the late 60s and early 70s make their CD debut on this soulful set. Sam’s vocals are both keening and full-bodied with a full backing band. There is plenty here for the Southern Country Soul fan to enjoy. Sam’s still around so let’s hope this release puts him back in the spotlight.
