John Coltrane’s essential jazz masterpiece, A Love Supreme, is getting the red-carpet treatment for its 50th anniversary, expanded to three discs in A Love Supreme: The Complete Masters.

A fusion of Coltrane’s early hard bop and later free jazz styles, A Love Supreme is an arresting four-part suite inspired in part by Coltrane’s increasing faith, after a near-overdose some years before. Coltrane’s tenor saxophone conveys his gratitude to a higher power through a repeating four-note motif (later accompanied literally by Coltrane himself, through vocal overdubs). The album’s closing “Psalm” features a “musical narration” as Coltrane plays a note for each syllable of a devotional poem he wrote (included in the album liner notes).

Recorded in two days in Rudy Van Gelder’s Englewood Cliffs, NJ studio with Coltrane’s “classic quartet” (bassist Jimmy Garrison, drummer Elvin Jones and pianist McCoy Tyner), A Love Supreme was an immediate hit in 1965, selling 500,000 copies and becoming Coltrane’s defining work that has lived on beyond Coltrane himself, who died of cancer just two years later at the age of 40.

The triple-disc A Love Supreme: The Complete Masters features a wealth of audio extras. The original stereo album is augmented with previously unreleased mono reference masters from Trane’s personal archive. Disc 2 features the complete sessions from December 9-10, 1964, four takes of which were released on an expanded edition in 2002. (The sessions from the 10th consist of a second attempt at album opener “Acknowledgement,” with saxophonist Archie Shepp and bassist Art Davis joining the quartet. Two of the previously released tracks are making their debut in stereo.) The third disc features the quartet’s performance of A Love Supreme at the Festival Mondial du Jazz in Antibes in July of 1965–the only time the album was played live in full.

The package will feature a plethora of additional information in the form of Coltrane’s surviving original sketches, rare photos and liner notes by Ashley Kahn, author of A Love Supreme: The Story of John Coltrane’s Signature Album, and Carlos Santana (who introduces the live material in his essay). A cut-down edition features the first two discs.

Disc 1: Original album (stereo and mono)
    1.Part I: Acknowledgement
    2.Part II: Resolution

This November, Universal Music are to reissue the Allman Brothers Band‘s second album, Idlewild South, across a number of formats including a 3CD+Blu-ray audio set that will include a 5.1 surround sound mix of the 1970 album.

As well as the hi-res 5.1 and stereo mixes, the blu-ray will include the album plus four bonus tracks: Statesboro Blues (Session Outtake), In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed (Alternate Take), One More Ride (Session Outtake) and Midnight Rider (Alternate Mix).

It’s not known yet what content will be across the three CDs in the four-disc super deluxe, or how this edition will be presented.

There will also be a two-disc deluxe edition and a single disc remaster and although not confirmed a vinyl version is surely reasonably likely.

Idlewild South is scheduled to be reissued on 27 November 2015.

This November, Virgin EMI will officially release the much-bootlegged concert film Queen A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975 across a wide number of audio and video formats including a limited super deluxe edition box set.

The Christmas concert (24th December) in the famous West London venue was the culmination of the 26-date ‘Queen invite you to A Night At The Opera’ UK tour of 1975.

The show was originally broadcast on BBC 2 and BBC Radio 1, although the TV crew clearly didn’t understand about encores, since they’d packed up their cameras before Queen played Seven Seas Of Rhye and See What A Fool I’ve Been – hence no film footage of those songs!

This will be issued on individual CD, DVD, blu-ray and gatefold 2LP editions as well as combo CD+Blu-ray and CD+DVD sets, although fans will be tempted by the super deluxe edition which comes in a lift-off lid box with the following content:
    • 1 CD of A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975
    • 1 SD blu-ray of A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975
    • 1 DVD of A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975
    • 12″ single of Bohemian Rhapsody with unreleased soundcheck of Now I’m Here
    • 60 page hardback book containing previously unseen photographs
    • Reproduction of ticket from the concert
    • Concert programme
    • Conference badge
    • Reproduction of the tour itinerary
    • Six button badges
    • Reproduction of the 1975 tour poster
    • Reproduction of the sticker stage pass
    • Reproduction of 2 balloons dropped into the crowd at the end of the 24th December 1975 Hammersmith show

A Night at the Odeon – Hammersmith 1975 is released on 20 November 2015.
    CD:

’The Ties That Bind: The River Collection‘ is a comprehensive look at Bruce Springsteen’s ‚The River‘ era, one of the most pivotal periods of time in his career. The set contains 52 tracks on 4 CDs with a wealth of unreleased material, and 4 hours of never-before-seen video on 3 DVDs. It is comprised of the original ‚The River‘ double album as released in 1980; the first official release of ‚The River: Single Album;‘ a CD of 1979/80 studio outtakes; a two-DVD film of never-released, newly edited multi-camera footage from Springsteen’s famed 1980 show in Tempe, AZ, long rumored but never-before-seen; rare tour rehearsal footage; a brand new documentary „The Ties That Bind“ about ‚The River;‘ and a coffee table book of 200 rare or previously unseen photos and memorabilia with a new essay by Mikal Gilmore.

’The River,‘ was originally released on October 17, 1980 as a double album and reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. ‚The River: Single Album‘ is the 10-track album that Springsteen recorded in 1979 as a follow up to 1978’s ‚Darkness On The Edge Of Town‘ but never released. The fourth CD on the box set is ‚The River: Outtakes,‘ which spans the entire ‚The River‘ sessions in 1979 and 1980. Eleven songs are rarities that have never been released before, and for the most part are completely unheard and unknown even to fans, who have long considered Springsteen’s outtakes to be treasured secrets.

“The Ties That Bind,“ on one DVD, is a brand new 60-minute documentary that features an intimate interview with Springsteen as he reflects on the tumultuous, extended period writing and recording ‚The River.‘ The film transitions between Springsteen telling the stories behind the music and illustrating them with solo acoustic guitar performances — interspersed with period concert footage and rare photos of Bruce and the band in and out of the studio. The final video component is „Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band: The River Tour, Tempe 1980,“ a new film produced from footage professionally filmed in 1980 using four cameras and recorded in multitrack audio. The film features 24 songs 2 hours, 40 minutes on 2 DVDs from Springsteen s November 5, 1980 concert at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. Widely regarded as one of Springsteen s finest performances, this intense show features early live versions of over half of ‚The River‘ songs. Also included is 20 minutes of footage from the late September, 1980 River Tour rehearsals held in Lititz, PA, showing Springsteen and The E Street Band working through live arrangements of what was then unreleased material from the upcoming album.

’The Ties That Bind: The River Collection is packaged in a 10″ x 12″ box with a hardcover 148-page coffee table book containing 200 studio and live photographs most of which have never been seen before plus pages from Springsteen’s notebooks, single covers, images and outtakes from the original album package, and other memorabilia documenting the album. Liner notes include a new essay from journalist Mikal Gilmore, the original Rolling Stone album review from 1980, and Springsteen’s updated comments about the album from the 1998 „Songs“ book.

Wow. Really good news.

Akte-X ?? Das braucht doch kein Mensch. Das Budget solltest Du locker freischaufeln können.

Okay, Akte X hat mich nie interessert.:teufel:
