Irgendwie werden ja generell so ziemlich alle Eels – Alben gerne mal unterschätzt… und Souljacker hat doch wirklich alles zu einem absoluten Dekadenalbum: Eine dichte Songauswahl, frische Songideen, verwunschene Textfragmente. Und Lieblingssongs. ´Woman Driving. Man Sleeping.´; ´Fresh Feeling´. ´What Is This Note?´. Und einen Wim Wenders GlühbirnenschwingMusicclip. Und einen wuscheligen Pudelhund auf einem schmucken Coverartwork, der hohen alten Schule. Und dann noch zusätzlich die ´Rotten World Blues´ EP oben drauf…

Also bitte. Und ausserdem war das Album auch einfach das zentrale Album in meiner ganzen mittleren musikalischen Entwicklungsphase. Prägend…
