„Anonymes Internet-Phänomen wird Popstar“ Victoria Beverley Walker aus Bath (UK) ist ein unerwarteter Gast des Tiny Desk. Ihre Drum & Bass-grundierten, dabei aber auf merkwürdige Weise beruhigenden Song-Miniaturen lassen sich gut in ein akustisches Gewand kleiden, und das überrascht sie selbst wohl am meisten.

Sehr schön, insbesondere die Auswahl von „Something Changed“ hat mich gefreut. Das cineastisch-orchestrale „This Is Hardcore“ im Tiny Desk-Format hätte ich vorher nicht auf der Bingo-Karte.

Btw: Zu den großen Zeiten von Pulp hat Keyboarderin Candida Doyle ihre hier offenkundige Arthritis noch für sich behalten, auch vor den anderen Band-Mitgliedern, und erst vor 10 Jahren öffentlich gemacht. Nach Jarvis ist sie am längsten in der Band.

NMIXX: Tiny Desk Korea

Ein Nachtrag: Diese Performance der aufstrebenden Idol Group NMIXX mit einer Funk-/Fusion-Band lief zunächst auf dem koreanischen Ableger von Tiny Desk und wurde dann auf den Mutterkanal übernommen. „It’s not easy for any group, especially one with six vocalists, to move out of their comfort zone of a traditional recording environment, but NMIXX fully embraced the Tiny Desk ethos. Using the natural room acoustics to hear themselves and the band, the singers’ intonation and vocal execution was superb as they sang arrangements carefully prepared for this special setting.“ Und das in nur einem Take.

Randnotiz: In einer der koreanischen Zwischenmoderationen kommt es zu einem Hin und Her über die richtige Aussprache des Wortes „Glockenspiel“.:)

For his Tiny Desk, John Fogerty brought what means the most to him. Family was accounted for: his sons, Tyler and Shane, played in the band, while his wife, Julie, was in the audience. There, too, was Fogerty’s distinct brand of patriotism.

We filmed this concert on Nov. 11, 2025, which happened to be Veterans Day. Fogerty tells the crowd that he was inspired to write „Proud Mary“ on the day he received his honorable discharge from the Army Reserve in 1968. „I opened my discharge [papers] up, and I was really, really, really happy,“ he says. „I went right in the house, picked up my Rickenbacker guitar and started strumming, and the very first line that came out of me was, ‚Left a good job in the city. Workin‘ for the man every night and day.‘ “

The Grammy Award-winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee has also spoken candidly about what his songs mean to him. For decades, Fogerty has fought over his catalog as the primary songwriter for Creedence Clearwater Revival, which includes many songs that are considered rock and roll staples. In 2023, he acquired the majority stake of CCR’s publishing, ultimately ending the battle. At the Desk, he plays some of his solo work, then closes the set with „Have You Ever Seen the Rain“ with some help from the audience.
