The Rolling Stones have become the first big name to leave EMI after signing a new record deal with Universal, according to reports in The Times.
The legendary band have signed a one-album deal with the label.The new signing will follow the band’s current five-year EMI deal, estimated at £14 million, when it expires in May.
A spokesman for the band commented: „The band are looking forward to working with Universal Music and are excited about this new venture.“Meanwhile, the band will release a CD to accompany the Martin Scorsese film ‚Shine A Light‘, in which they are filmed playing two live gigs at New York’s Beacon Theatre in 2006.
