Boston stammt übrigens von der „Out Of The Grey“ Platte. Die Vinylversion hiervon wird oft günstig bei Glitterhouse oder Normal angeboten. Dieses wurde ebenso wie „The Day`s Of Wine And Roses“ remastered und mit reichlich Bonusmaterial wiederveröffentlicht.

Auf ihrem letzten Studio-Album „Ghost Stories“ gibt es eine schöne Coverversion des alten Blind Lemon Jefferson Titels „See That My Grave Is Kept Clean“, dass auch der frühe Dylan schon auf Platte verewigt hat.

‚Days of wine and roses‘ ist ein fantastische Debütalbum.

DREAM SYNDICATE TO OFFER NEW DOSE OF ‚MEDICINE‘: Medicine Show, the second album by 1980s college-rock heroes, the Dream Syndicate, will be dusted off for reissue by Rhino Records perhaps as early next year, according to former frontman Steve Wynn. Like the 2001 reissue of the band’s first album, The Days Of Wine And Roses, the revisited Medicine Show will likely include extra tracks, new mastering, and new packaging. Originally released in 1984, Medicine Show was the Los Angeles group’s lone major-label effort. It was produced by Sandy Pearlman, known for his work with Blue Oyster Cult, and caused a small backlash among fans who cried sellout. Wynn recently told No Depression that the album was „misunderstood,“ that A&M Records had nothing to do with the group’s sound migration from caustic, Velvet-Underground-inspired to a more translucent, if no less epic style. „There was no pressure from the label at all,“ Wynn says. „More than anything, they wanted a noisy, trashy garage-psychedelic guitar record, because that’s what they were signing. And we were kind of fumbling around trying to find something else, trying to do something entirely different.“ Wynn’s latest solo effort, Static Transmission, arrives in the United States on July 8 from Down There/DBK Works.

    From: „PT“
    Subject: Re: Medicine Show Reissue

    guys and gals –

I don’t know where Miles of Music got their info – but RHINO has NO plans to
    reissue
the Medicine Show (although a few other people and companies are working on
    it)
(both in the UK and here in the USA)

I spoke with Steve and he says „no plans from Rhino to do
this“………“however some other people are working on it and I hope it
    happens“.

I also spoke with another label today who is working on it as well.

also, it doesn’t make any sense for Rhino (especially Rhino handmade) to
re-release a title that they don’t own within the WEA catalog and would have
to license from another major label – namely Universal/Polygram/etc.

    so, that’s the story……………

And now it’s time to settle into the new year–a time for writing and rehearsing and exploring new ideas. I figure I’ll bring a bunch of new songs into the studio sometime before the summer but, in the meantime, I’ll also be working on the upcoming reissues of the Dream Syndicate’s „Ghost Stories“ and „Live at Raji’s“ along with the DVD release of the show I played with the Miracle 3 and Chris Cacavas in Tubingen last Fall. Keep checking this website for updates and periodic rants and raves from yours truly.

Happy New Year to all of you and thanks for your friendship and support in 2003.

    From: „PT“

In other paisley underground related news, I'm happy to report that Steve
Wynn and I have „put to bed“ for
Rykodisc/Restless – two Dream Syndicate reissues which I compiled and did
    the liner notes for.

coming in April or so –

will be the „complete live at Raji's“ – remastered and expanded to a 2 CD
set – this CD now includes
the complete show – with the 4 missing songs back in order – and in-between
    song talking/banter included as well.

released at the same time will be „Ghost Stories – the expanded edition“ –
now a remastered „double length album“
    – tons
of previously unreleased bonus tracks taken from radio shows during the time
    of „Ghost Stories“ features songs
that should have or could have been on Ghost Stories (some of which Steve
later did himself, some of which disappeared, a couple of alternative
versions of Ghost Stories songs and some cool cover versions as well.
8 songs in total as bonus tracks).

GHOST STORIES — (The Dream Syndicate)Okay, we know, this record has been reissued before- but this is the
definitive version of the fourth and final album from The Dream Syndicate.
The new version contains EIGHT bonus tracks, all from the KCRW shows the
band played in 1987 and 1988, including a searing alternate arrangement of
„When the Curtain Falls,“ embryonic takes of „Carolyn“ and „Never Ending
Rain“ (both of which ended up on Steve's solo albums) and a hilarious,
shambolic version of Eric Burdon and War's „Spill the Wine.“

Steve personally directed the remastering. It sounds incredible–much more
full-bodied, agressive and LOUD than ever before. It sounds more like what
the band must have been hearing in those Hollywood studios back in 1988.
    ($15) SHIPS APRIL 26TH.

THE COMPLETE LIVE AT RAJI'S — (Live DREAM SYNDICATE)It's been called one of the best live albums of all time. It certainly is a
good snapshot of the final lineup of the Dream Syndicate at their unbridled,
anarchic peak. This will be the first time the COMPLETE show has been
available – how could they keep us waiting all this time?

Finally, on April 23rd Ryko/Restless will be putting out „The Complete Live
at Raji's,“ a two-CD set that includes four songs not on the original
version („See That My Grave Is Kept Clean,“ „Tell Me When It's Over,“ „All
Along the Watchtower“ and „When You Smile.“)

The music has been remastered and it sounds louder and prouder than ever–
it's exactly like being at Raji's in 1988 except you won't have to get your
clothes dry-cleaned in the morning. ($17) SHIPS APRIL 26TH.

'When the curtain falls'). Ansonsten absolut empfehlenswert.

Vielleicht sollte man die 'Out of the grey' mal einer ähnlichen Frischzellenkur unterziehen.
