Ah okay, das wusste ich nicht.
Aber dennoch wird das Wilde-Zitat in einen romantischen Kontext eingebaut, bei Wilde scheint es ja eher eine die allgemeine menschliche Existenz betreffende Aussage zu sein, sozusagen apodiktisch.

Little Esther – Lookin‘ for a Man
Die Stimme dürfte für viele (auch für mich anfangs!) gewöhnungsbedürftig sein, aber sie war damals nicht einmal volljährig, ein Top-Talent und wurde angeblich zu ungünstigen Vertägen und zum Alkohol (und evtl. anderen Drogen) getrieben. Trotz ihres Comebacks in den 1960er, nach dem sie noch einige Hits im Soul- und Discobreich landete, verstarb sie viel zu früh, noch unter 50, an Leberversagen.
Der Track (Begleitband müssten The Dominoes sein?) hat endeutig Backbeat und sogar ein nettes E-Gitarren-Solo. Also Rock’n’Roll, lange vor den Hits von Bill Haley, Elvis Presley und anderen Typen.
