harry-ragBei den von dir aufgezählten, finden sich auch noch ein paar Tracks, die mir besser als „Waterloo Sunset“ gefallen. Ich wundere mich, warum vielen dieser Track so viel gilt, ist er doch ziemlich milde und vor allem textlich vielen der anderen Arbeiten von Ray Davies nicht ebenbürtig.
Ich kann es nicht wirklch begründen aber Waterloo Sunset ist auch mein Kinks-Favorit, auch wenn die Kinks noch Zig andere tolle Songs haben. Ich glaube, es ist die Sehnsucht und der Wunsch, mal Waterloo Station zu sehen, den das Lied bei mir als Jugendlichem geweckt hat.

Ich kann es nicht wirklch begründen aber Waterloo Sunset ist auch mein Kinks-Favorit, auch wenn die Kinks noch Zig andere tolle Songs haben. Ich glaube, es ist die Sehnsucht und der Wunsch, mal Waterloo Station zu sehen, den das Lied bei mir als Jugendlichem geweckt hat.
Dann kann es interessant sein, dass der Song eigentlich als „Liverpool Sunset“ geplant war.

London, Liverpool, egal. Für einen Pre-Teen aus einem hessischen Dorf alles unendlich weit weg. Aber alleine die Vorstellung von Terry and Julie … in paradise hat mich elektrisiert. Ansonsten habe ich den Text damals sowieso nicht verstanden.
Ähnlich wirkte auf mich übrigens wenig später „Starman“ von David Bowie, die erste Single, die ich mir gekauft habe. Heute wieder gehört, immer noch magisch.

Auf mich wirkt die Wehmut in „Celluloid Heroes“ stärker. Vielleicht auch, weil „Waterloo Sunset“ eher positiv scheint und „Celluloid Heroes“ zum Negativen tendiert.
