Werbung… was aber weniger am Artikel als an Iggy liegt. Der kommt einem vor wie ein typischer amerikanischer Tourist auf Europatour, der sich mit ein paar auswendig gelernten Stichworten wichtig machen möchte. Peinlich!

Bei aller Sympathie für Birgit Fuss: Der R.E.M.-Guide ist enttäuschend. Wobei die Nominierung von „Around The Sun“ zu befürchten war, aber „Up“ als essenziell einzustufen, während „Reckoning“, „Fables“ und „New Adventures In Hi-Fi“ fehlen, ist doch skurril. „Up“ ist stellenweise verdruckst und enthält Ausschuss (mindestens: „Sad Professor“ und „Falls To Climb“).

Dein Unverständnis für die Einstufung von „Up“ teile ich, aber sicher nicht Deine Meinung, dass ausgerechnet „Sad professor“ und „Falls to climb“ Ausschuss seien. Die beiden Tracks gehören neben „Lotus“, „At my most beautiful“ und „Walk unafraid“ zu den Höhepunkten des Albums. Als schwächere Tracks höre ich „Suspicion“, „Hope“, „The apologist“, „You’re in the air“ und „Why not smile“ .

Essenziell: „Automatic For The People“, „Reckoning“, „Fables Of The Reconstruction“ und „Lifes Rich Pageant“
Lohnend: „Green“, „Murmur“ und „New Adventures in Hi-Fi“
Ergänzend: „Reveal“ und „Collapse Into Now“
Schwächer: „Up“--

Aber wenn man bei dir die Kategorien „Essentiell“ und „lohnend“ mal durchmischt, kommt was ganz gutes raus.
„Up“ höre ich allerdings auch nicht besonders gut.
