Pavement Brighten the Corners Reissue Info Unveiled

It’s an even-numbered year, which means we’re due for another deluxe reissue of a classic Pavement album from Matador/Domino. This time around, it’s 1997’s Brighten the Corners that gets the treatment, and Matador has just revealed the details of its reissue package.

Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed. comes on two discs. Together they contain the remastered original LP, all of the B-sides and compilation tracks from around the album’s original release, and previously unreleased studio and live tracks. The package also includes a 62-page book of photos, writings, and other nice things.

Matador will release Brighten the Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed. on November 18, and the label is currently working on a „Buy Early Get Now“ promotion for the record with even more extras. Domino will handle the reissue’s European release.

Finally, don’t forget: Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have those North American dates with Blitzen Trapper coming up pretty soon.

Ah, da sind wieder sehr schöne Sachen dabei. Sieht so aus, als hätte Scott Kannberg noch mal kompiliert. Freue mich sehr drauf. Ganz besonders auf diesen Track, den ich bisher nur auf der DVD „Slow Century“ zu hören bekam:

Sehr schön, wird vorgemerkt. Die Pavement-Reissues sind vorbildlich. Warum ich gerade das Reissue meines Lieblings-Pavement-Albums „Slanted and Enchanted“ nicht habe, ist mir ein Rätsel. Ich sollte mich wohl mal darum kümmern.

Du hast auf jeden Fall schon mal eine Empfehlung von mir. Die Reissues zu den ersten beiden Alben haben immer noch die meisten, unverzichtbaren Entdeckungen zu bieten.
Einzelne Teile vom „Wowee Zowee“-Reissue waren mir dagegen schon bekannt (weniges gar verzichtenswert). Und wenn ich die „Brighten The Corners“-Liste überblicke, dann sieht es ähnlich aus, wenn auch noch genügend Unbekanntes vertreten ist.
Ich hoffe ja immer noch, auf eine Perle wie „Strings Of Nashville“ zu stoßen. Inzwischen einer meiner liebsten Pavement-Songs überhaupt.

Ups, ja die Sordid Sentinels Edition meinte ich. Hast ja recht, das ist die Wowee Zowee Reissue, die steht auch bei mir im Regal. Aber die Deluxe (oder wie auch immer) Editon von „Slanted and Enchanted“ führt doch auch noch so’n komischen Zusatztitel?

Ich weiss, dass die Frage ketzerisch (oder dgl) ankommen mag … dennoch: hat das einen besonderen Grund, dass das LiveMaterial auf Vinyl (und nicht auf CD) kommt ?

Soll dadurch so etwas wie künstlerische Absicht abgeleitet werden ?
