An unfinished cut of Toy Story 3 screened at ShoWest in the States yesterday. So what are people making of it?

If you’re one of the lucky attendees at ShoWest in the States at the moment, then you may be one of the few people on the planet to have seen Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3, which is arriving this summer. It was an unfinished cut that was screened, but there was enough in it to earn the film a strong response.

Not long after the screenings finished, the first spoiler-free reviews started filtering through, and to call them suitably positive wouldn’t be too far wide of the mark (although that’s not a unanimous view).

Here’s what people are saying about it…

Slashfilm:
„The story is a fun ride to places unknown, and takes some twists and turns you might not expect. The conclusion is a fitting end to the series, and will probably leave you in tears. The last 20-30 minutes are pure brilliance. I can’t wait to see the film again when it’s completed and in 3D.“

Screencrave:
„This was a good film, a great animation, and I liked it quite a bit… but it did not quite have the „wow“ quality that I have come to expect from Disney/Pixar“

„In brief, it’s everything I was expecting, but not too much more beyond that.“

Toy Story 3 arrives in the US on June 18th, and we get it in the US from July 23rd.

Allen Ostösterreicher ist die Retrospektive „Filmfarben“ (Filmmuseum) von 9.4. bis 7.5. nahegelegt. Insgesamt werden 35 Spielfilme gezeigt. Neben Klassiker wie „Pierrot le fou“, „Senso“ usw. kann man auch das neue Resnais-Werk „Les herbes folles“ sehen.

Und jetzt zu ernsthaften Dingen (ehrlich, ich bin immer noch am Lachen): Hollywood dreht ja momentan fast ausschließlich Spiele-Filme – nach irgendwelchen Spielzeug. Das neueste Ding: Battleship! Welches grandiose Spiezeug könnte dahinterstecken? Genau! Schiffe Versenken! Damit eine Seite Papier mit Rechtecken nicht zu langweilig wird, wurde ein ansehnlicher Hauptdarsteller gefunden und Aliens kommen auch noch ins Spiel.

Logan Lerman „Almost 100% Locked“ As New Spider-Man!

Lerman recently turned in solid work as the titular demigod in Chris Columbus‘ PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF, but this is easily his highest-profile role to date. He evidently beat out the likes of Anton Yelchin, Jesse Eisenberg, twenty-seven-year-old Patrick Fugit and Johnny Simmons (who would’ve been my choice out of this group).

SPIDER-MAN BEGIN AGAIN is expected to go before cameras later this year in order to hit its July 3, 2012 release date. Will audiences be cool with a full-scale reinvention of a film series they seemed to be enjoying up until three years ago? Seeing as how 99% of entertainment is disposable nowadays, I’ve no doubt they’ll be happy to consign Sam Raimi’s movies to the scrap-heap of movies they sorta-enjoyed texting through.

The lovely and talented Jamie Vanderbilt (ZODIAC) is the only credited screenwriter at the moment. We’ll see how long that lasts.

Wollen die wirklich Spider-Man nochmal von vorn erzählen? Der erste ist doch gerade mal 8 Jahre her. Oder ist das Einlassalter dann maximal 14?

Nur wegen Serenity? Er hat ja auch bei einer Menge Serienfolgen + Dr. Horrible Regie gefuehrt und die waren auch gut. Und er wird das Skript noch ueberarbeiten.

Ich sehe da schon einen Unterschied zwischen TV und Spielfilm. Und Serenity war ok, aber nicht überragend.
