How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people?Sonics, einfach nur super. Bist du mit dem Sound der Platten zufrieden? Habe Sonics Vinyl in den 90 ern auf EVA Records, France gekauft…naja!

Ich kann das schwer einschätzen, da ich keinen Vergleich habe. Ich hatte die beiden regulären Alben damals auf CD und hab‘ sie erst jetzt auf Vinyl nachgekauft. Sehr zufrieden bin ich mit den ziemlich originalgetreuen Sleeves, klanglich – tja, das ist damals eben auch mit einfachen Mitteln aufgenommen worden.

Auf Eva Records sind damals gute Platten erschienen, The Sonics allerdings nicht. Etiquette Records und Norton haben in den 80s und 90s für Reissues gesorgt.

Clau, magst du die 13th Floor Elevators? Überlege zur Zeit, ob ich mir die “ Music of the spheres“ Vinyl Box zulegen sollJa, die mag ich und ja, die Box habe ich auch. Sehr schön und aufwändig gemachte Box, sehr empfehlenswert. Es wurden damals 3000 Stück in Umlauf gebracht, beim einen oder anderen Händler bekommt man bestimmt noch eine, aber bestellbar ist sie nicht mehr. Noch scheint es die Box aber zu vertretbaren Preisen zu geben.

A strong thirteen inch square hard box, featuring a unique 3D lenticular cover image of the iconic Zebra man artwork which was used on a poster advertising the band’s performance at the Avalon Ballroom .
A 2-LP gatefold sleeve edition of The Psychedelic Sounds of, remastered from a safety master derived from the original tape source. Album one is the mono edition; album two, a remastered version of the original stereo mix and thus different to the version on Sign of the Three Eyed Men. This, as for Easter Everywhere and Bull of the Woods below is the first vinyl reissue from tape sources of the stereo editions for over three decades. Album two is the first ever vinyl pressing of the album in the band’s intended running order.

Hast recht, hab mich getäuscht, meine ist eine CD mit den Alben “ Here Are The Sonics“ und “ Boom“ auf dem FAN CLUB Label… das waren ja auch Franzosen ( damals ein NEW ROSE Sublabel) …daher wohl meine irrige Assoziation zu EVA Records, von denen ich auch einige hab (Seeds, Zakary Thaks). War ja in den 80ern/ 90ern alles schwer gesuchtes Zeug; auf FAN CLUB hab ich was von Roky Erickson, Alex Chilton und Paul Roland. Also auch hier danke ( für deine Korrektur!)

henneFAN CLUB Label… das waren ja auch Franzosen ( damals ein NEW ROSE Sublabel)
da hatte ich mal „The Sonics – Live / Fanz Only“ auf Vinyl, leider übelste Bootleg Qualität.
THE SONICS – 50 Box kann ich empfehlen, und wenn ich es richtig erinnere, war Joshua-Tree ebenfalls damit zufrieden.

Damals (Ende 80er, Anfang 90 er) war ich froh , im bayerischen Hinter-und Niemandsland wohnend, das Zeug überhaupt hören und kaufen zu können, scheißegal ob von Zweitkassetten oder Drittplatten überspielt

Also beispielsweise Platten der Sonics, Chocolate Watch Band, Red K/Crayola, Elevators, Seeds, Litter, Haunted…auf Labels wie Fan Club, New Rose, Eva, Decal/ Charly, Psycho…Soundqualität absolut wurscht ( damals)

Übrigens auch auf Decal zum Beispiel Townes van Zandt oder Daevid Allen…froh war man, das zu haben! Dreißig Jahre später gibt’s ja alles Aug Knopfdruck zu jeder Zeit. Und ich höre diese alten CDs und Platten auch heute noch gerne, trotz Kassettenkopie
