Von vorne – Aufnahmen aus Berlin, 1921-30 auf CD 1, mit dem Orchester der Berliner Staatsoper unter Frieder Weissmann, mit demselben am Piano und Max Saal an der Harfe, mit Carl Stabernack oder Fritz Ohrmann am Harmonium (in verschiedenen Kombinationen, Piano, Orchester, Piano/Harmonium, Piano/Harfe, Orchester/Harmonium), und schliesslich auch noch zwei längere Stücke mit Mitgliedern des Staatopernorchesters unter Michael Taube. Es gibt Stücke von Haydn, Chopin, Sarasate/Feuermann, Schumann (die „Träumerei“ und das „Abendlied“ in je zwei Einspielungen), Bach, Bach/Gounod (das „Ave Maria“ natürlich), Dvorák, Cui, Popper und Bruch.
Auf CDs 2-4 gibt es Live-Aufnahmen – aus den USA natürlich, in Eurpoa herrschte der Ungeist, für einen Feuermann war kein Platz mehr – aus den Jahren 1938-41. Unter anderem zweimal das Dvorák-Konzert (mit Hans Lange und Leon Barzin), mir unbekannte Konzerte von D’Albert und Reicha oder Blochs „Schelomo“ (alle mit Barzin) sowie Straussens Don Quixote mit Mischakoff und Carlton Cooley und dem NBC Symphony Orchestra unter Toscanini.

Interessantes Detail von da: „The National Orchestral Association ran a training orchestra (which, I believe, still exists). Barzin did immense good with that orchestra. It was open to Black musicians and to women. The only requirement was how well an applicant played. Furthermore, he performed not only the classics, but contemporary American scores, and he had a national radio audience. Top soloists appeared with the group, Feuermann obviously one of them (several times).“--

Eine erste Begegnung mit Schumanns Symphonien (CDs 47 & 48 aus der Bernstein Symphony Edition von Sony/Columbia) – mal wieder weiss ich noch nicht, was ich damit soll … manches wirkt mir hier doch etwas gar dick aufgetragen. Als nächstes dann wohl die Gardiner-Einspielungen als Kontrast.
