Ich kürze oben ab, da die letzten Stücke der Verdi-CD allesamt auf Volume 1 der American Recordings 1923-1929 zu finden sind. Die CD enthält Victor-Aufnahmen der Jahre 1923 und 1924, Arien aus „Aida“ (und Duette mit Giovanni Martinelli), „Ernani“, „La forza del destino“ und „Otello“, sowie Scotts „Lullaby“, Brahms‘ „Wiegenlied“ (in Englisch gesungen) und Shelleys „Love’s Sorrow“.

Volume 2 der Ponselle-Aufnahmen enthält verschiedene Lieder, zum grossen Teil in englischer Sprache, dazwischen ein paar Arien aus Ponchiellis „La Gioconda“ und Meeyerbeers „L’Africaine“ (italienisch gesungen) aus den Jahren 1924 und 1925. Zu hören ist auch „La Rosita“, das Liedchen, das die wundervolle Scheibe „Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster“ eröffnet … das sind ja zwei echte Heldentenöre

Nachdem die für 15€ erstandene „Eleanor Steber Sings Mozart“ (VAI) sich als eine leere CDR entpuppte (CDR ist korrekt, hatte ich schon abgeklärt, hatte Amazon mal wieder nicht korrekt deklariert und der Preis ist natürlich überzogen, aber was soll’s, ich wollte die Musik von gekaufen CDRs mache ich mir immer sogleich Back-Up FLAC … leer ist natürlich nicht korrekt, ich durfte dem Label schon meine Adresse überreichen, die sind sehr fix) … jetzt also die zweite Daniza Ilitsch CD – zwei der Met-Verdi-Duette von 1947 (eins mit Tucker, eins mit Baum – der Typ ist seltsam, oder?), die der neuaufgelegten Columbia-Scheibe entnommen wurde, dazu dreizen Arien, die 1951 für Supraphon eingespielt wurden – vier weitere von Verdi, ebensoviele von Puccini und je eine von Mozart, Leoncavallo und Mascagni. Die 1951er Aufnahmen entstanden mit dem Wiener Staatsopernorchester unter Hans Swarowsky.

55 Minuten aus den „Contes d’Hoffmann“ … gekauft habe ich die CD wegen einer Arie, die Andréa Guiot singt, die Einleitung und Romanze der Antonia aus dem vierten Akt, „Elle a fui, la tourterelle“.
