natürlich schöne sounds, alles sehr eigen und toll verwoben – aber auf die gesamtdauer finde ich das ein bisschen richtungslos. ein eindruck, den ich auch live hatte. aber vielleicht entdecke ich noch was im zweiten und dritten durchgang.

Mal was ganz anderes:
Charlie Parker – In A Soulful Mood (1946-47)
Eine billige Compi mit den Aufnahmen, die Bird u.a. mit Miles für Dial gemacht hat. Moose The Mooche, Yardbird Suite, Ornithology, A Night In Tunesia, die tragische Aufnahme von Loverman – alles mit dabei. Große Klasse!
Vorhin sah ich eine Parodie über die heutigen Hipster in Berlin, die unablässig auf Ihren iPhones herumtippen. Können sich diese jungen Leute überhaupt vorstellen, dass es mal Musik gegeben hat, that set the world on fire? Und dass sich Menschen dafür Hals über Kopf ins Ungewisse gestürzt haben? Okay, als Charlie Parker diese Aufnahmen gemacht hat, war ich selbst noch nicht mal geboren und auch meine Eltern hatten noch nicht mal das geschlechtsfähige Alter erreicht. Aber trotzdem.

Komisch, ich dachte nie, dass die Welt auf mich wartet, sondern dass ich mich in Feindesland durchschlagen muss – allein schon wegen meines Musikgeschmacks.
Fand ich früher gar nicht so toll und sicher hat das heute nicht mehr die Schlagkraft wie 1946, aber als ich Moose The Mooche eben hörte dachte ich: „Wow!“

Aber das verstehen diese jungen Leute ja nicht. Die halten mich für einen langweiligen alten Sack, der „Geschichten aus dem Krieg“ erzählt. Fast schon aus Trotz habe ich Charlie Parker aufgelegt.
Früher war alles besser!
