Das sind wirklich ein paar sehr schöne Alben dabei! Mein Geldbeutel schreit Hilfe!

Music is like a river, It's supposed to flow and wash away the dust of everyday life. - Art BlakeyDas ist definitiv eine schöne Reihe, ja! Ich habe leider nur die Coltrane/Chambers Doppel-LP (die Jazz West Quartett-Scheibe mit Kenny Drew und Philly Joe mag ich sehr, eine meiner liebsten 1956er-Aufnahmen von Coltrane, neben dem Album mit Tadd Dameron) und die Circle Doppel-LP (mit punch hole). Die bunten siebdruck-artigen „Best Of“-Scheiben finde ich allerdings recht hässlich (und halte sie für überflüssig, bin überhaupt kein „Best of“-Fan, ganz im allgemeinen und im Jazz besonders).
Für Vinylisten ist z.B. die Herbie Nichols Doppel-LP besonders interessant, neben der Mosaic-Box – und im Gegensatz zu dieser einigermassen bezahlbar – wohl die umfassendste Nichols-Sammlung, die man auf LP kriegen kann.

gypsy tail windWas ist da drauf? Das Material von der orangen LP plus die einzlenen Trio-Stücke von den späteren Sessions? (Ist eine Doppel-LP, nehme ich an? Gab es in der Serie auch einzelne?)
Ja, wie schon zwischenzeitlich hingewiesen – die gesammelten Trio Stücke auf einer Doppel LP – das würde stark nach einer Wiederveröffentlichung als CD verlangen….Horace Silver im Trio birgt vielen Details und Subtilitäten in sich, hat mich überrascht und beeindruckt…

(CD Enja 2032-2) – nachdem Roy Brooks heute auf meinem Menüzettel stand, bin ich jetzt über dies hier gestolpert…..Afrika, Gospel, Blasmusikkapellen, Ellington und Mingus lassen grüßen……und Brooks ist auch hier superb……

Klasse Besetzung. Ich hab nur leider massive Schwierigkeiten mit „italienischer“ Melodik … Aber in Anbetracht der Musiker und der Kritik, die ich gerade in der JazzTimes gelesen habe, vielleicht doch ein Ohr wert?
