Die Art off topic ist doch gar nie ein Problem!
Hier vorhin (als ich die off topics las, auf dem Heimweg) „The Sermon“ von Jimmy Smith – hat heute irgendwie nicht recht geklickt (nur das Titelstück, nicht das ganze Album) bzw. kam nur als satter, toller Groove an, nicht als wirklich gutes Stück.
Jetzt, heute angekommen:

„Speak Like A Child“ entstand, nachdem Herbie Hancock seine Faszination für die Musik von Gil Evans entdeckte. Für die Zusammensetzung des Bläsertrios (fluegelhorn, bass trombone und alto flute) ist Miles maßgeblich beteiligt gewesen.

„Speak Like A Child“ entstand, nachdem Herbie Hancock seine Faszination für die Musik von Gil Evans entdeckte. Für die Zusammensetzung des Bläsertrios (fluegelhorn, bass trombone und alto flute) ist Miles maßgeblich beteiligt gewesen.
Da hört man das Vorbild natürlich deutlich heraus – und es ist toll, wie schön und leicht HH mit dieser vergleichsweise kleinen Besetzung solch Gil Evans-sche Klangfarben hinbekommt.

Cécile McLorin Salvant – Woman Child
Gefällt mir immer besser. Auch die Band kommt ziemlich gut, meist nur Piano, Bass und Drums. Und mit dem Titeltrack beweist sie, dass sie auch Songs schreiben kann.

(CD CTI Records 5051762) – unlängst hier die Debatte über Musiker welche retrospektiv in den 60ern künstlerisch deren „all time high“ hatten und wie deren Aktivitäten danach gesehen werden (können) – dies ist IMO eine feine Stunde von Hrn Hancock, welcher in der elektrisch/akustisch gemischten Rhythmusgruppe mit Stanley Clarke und Jack DeJohnette ein nahezu ideales Fundament legt, auf welchem sich Joe Farrell in verschiedenste Richtungen „ausbreiten“ kann….btw geniale Cover Art :wow:…
