„Speak Like A Child“ entstand, nachdem Herbie Hancock seine Faszination für die Musik von Gil Evans entdeckte. Für die Zusammensetzung des Bläsertrios (fluegelhorn, bass trombone und alto flute) ist Miles maßgeblich beteiligt gewesen.
Da hört man das Vorbild natürlich deutlich heraus – und es ist toll, wie schön und leicht HH mit dieser vergleichsweise kleinen Besetzung solch Gil Evans-sche Klangfarben hinbekommt.
