Eine tolle HH-Platte, umschifft jegliches Klischee und ist damit absolut originell.

Wurde leider durch wichtige Telephonate und am Ende durch das temporäre Abhängen des Verstärkers und CD-Players vom Strom unterbrochen … aber bald wieder!
Die Hancock liebe ich auch sehr – diese offenen Grooves, die in der grössten Lockerheit in jede Richtung zu gehen können scheinen – die Kunst besteht dann wohl darin, dass sie es nicht tun sondern zugleich gelöst und fokussiert musiziert wird. Grossen Anteil am Erfolg hat Paul Chambers – ein paar Jahre später wären wohl Ron Carter oder Cecil McBee zum Zug gekommen, aber Chambers macht seine Sache hervorragend!

Das gab es mal auch als Teil einer CD (Label Ubatuqui ??), aber leider nie als propere CD (Original) Wiederveröffentlichung…….

Keine Ahnung … mir reicht der 50p DL von Trunk, Schifrins Bossa/Jazz-Alben sind mir eigentlich allesamt etwas zu leichtfüssig.

Dieses Album wächst bei mir mit jedem Hören.
Und es macht neugierig auf Weiteres :sonne:--
Joe Zawinul – Zawinul
Keine Eingewöhnungsphase, das ist sofort beim ersten Hören atmosphärisch einnehmend und auf ganzer Linie überzeugend. Da sind natürlich ganz offensichtlich die musikalischen Verbindungen zu Davis, aber eben auch zur Anfangsphase von Weather Report spürbar. Für mich als relativ Unerfahrenem kristallisiert sich hier recht deutlich heraus, wie groß Zawinuls Einfluss auf beide war, welchen Anteil er an der Entwicklung gehabt haben muss. Kann wohl kaum überschätzt werden. Überhaupt: Was für eine spannende Zeit damals um 1970 herum.

Dieses Album wächst bei mir mit jedem Hören.
Und es macht neugierig auf Weiteres :sonne:Weiteres in der Richtung wird sich vermutlich nicht finden … aber Zerbe hat natürlich auch anderswo mitgewirkt, z.B. auf dem Amiga-Album der Gruppe FEZ. Ganz andere Musik, aber auch hörenswert!

Hast Du schon „Today and Tomorrow“? Das ist nebst dem grandiosen Album mit Ellington die Impulse-Scheibe, die man hören muss! Bossa war nicht so ne gute Idee in Hawkins‘ Fall. Der alte Herr schlägt sich tapfer und charmfrei ist das Ergebnis sicherlich nicht, aber wirklich gelungen auch nicht.
