Der Teufel ist ein Optimist, wenn er glaubt, dass er die Menschen schlechter machen kann. "Fackel" - Karl Kraus„In A Silent Way“ fehlt aber ein wenig das Erdige und Brodelnde.
Was „Impressions“ betrifft, so ist es trotz der unterschiedlichen Aufnahmen ein durch und durch stimmiges und perfektes Album (* * * * *) und ist ebenfalls in meiner Top 100.

„Impressions“ bekommt von mir ****1/2--

Warum sind bei dir Miles Davis und John Coltrane gerade mit „Bitches brew“ bzw. „Impressions“ vertreten? Besonders „Impressions“ sehen sicher nicht viele als John Coltranes bestes Werk (natürlich ist sie eine wunderschöne Platte)…
Bitches Brew: für dieses Werk fallen mir die Adjektive „überirdisch“ bzw. „unirdisch“ bzw. „transzendent“ ein. Musik vom anderen Stern. Ich kann mich nach hinten kippen lassen, der Strom treibt mich davon. Das Cover ist mit den sich in schlieriger Auflösung befindenden schwarzen Schönheiten dem Inhalt angemessen: treiben lassen, Widerstand wäre zwecklos.
Impressions: für mich die Platte, auf der Coltrane in seiner ganzen Bandbreite kondensiert ist. Blue Train, Giant Steps, Favorite Things, Love Supreme, Ascension – die Essenz all dieser Werke finde ich auf Impressions. Vor allem das phantastische „india“ (aus den Village-Vanguard-Sessions) hat es mir angetan, „after the rain“ ist für mich ein Inbegriff an sanfter Melancholie.
Was Jazz angeht bin ich sonst eher in der hardbop-Ecke zuhause, Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham, Lee Morgan etc., aber in eine 100er Liste kommen nur MD und JC.

Um die beiden finde ich es besonders schade. Für mich gehört GHS inzwischen in meine Stones Top6.

Interessante Liste, die Nr. 1 sehr ungewöhnlich. Da ist das Hendrix Debut doch weitaus stärker. Bei den Stones verwundert mich, daß IORR vor Beggars Banquet ist. Und daß zumindest Sticky Fingers und Let it bleed fehlen. Über das Fehlen von Exile sage ich ja schon ja nichts mehr. --

Sehr schön! Ich fühle mich in beiden Listen zu Hause. Jeweils eine gute Mischung aus ALT und NEU.
@daniel Belsazar, Chrome in der Liste zu haben ist ungewöhnlich, aber gut. Ich finde das Album auch noch besser als „Red Exposure“. Bei “ The Cry Of Love“ auf Nr. 1 vermute ich eine Verbindung zu emotionellen Erlebnissen.
