Eels – Electro Shock Blues

Ich würde „Elizabeth“ ebenso als intensiv bezeichnen und halte es für ein zweifelssohne gutes Stück. Dennoch bleibt die Melodie verglichen mit den anderen Stücken des Albums etwas blass (ganz im Gegensatz zu Es Gesangsvortrag und dem direkten Text).
Wenn ich „Dead of Winter“, das wohl düsterste Lied auf dem Album, zum Vergleich heranziehe, ist es für meine Begriffe virtuoser nuanciert als „Elizabeth“, besonders durch die mutmaßlichen Mellotron(?)- Einsätze, die auch in „P.S. You Rock My World“ auftauchen. Noch dazu mag man den Gesang hier in seiner Gebrochenheit als ähnlich bravourös einschätzen (z.B. taucht die „richtig verträumte, schwache Stimme“ in der „fade into/fade into the night“- Zeile ebenso auf).
