RIP Sam Moore (1935-2025)
Es war im Jahr 2006, als ich durch den täglichen SWR1-Podcast von Frank Laufenberg, der damals meine Startseite war, den heißen Soul-Stampfer „Hold on, I’m comin'“ von Sam & Dave kennen und schätzen lernte. Damals feierte die Nummer 40-jähriges Jubiläum:

Mir ist sie zuerst als Duettpartnerin von John Prine aufgefallen, seitdem höre ich ihre Sachen recht gern, vor allem die frühen Alben sind immer ein Quentchen mehr Honkytonk (edit: Honkytonk ist eigentlich der falsche Ausdruck, faktisch klingt ihre Musik lokaler eingrenzbar – hinterm Studio brennt Popcorn Sutton Schnaps an einem Bach -, reduzierter produziert und bluegrassiger als die breit angelegten Countryschlager anderer Interpretinnen) als die ihrer Wettbewerberinnen aus dieser Zeit.
