Notes: The final night of Springsteen's VFC tour brought a unique bill to the Meadowlands, with Patti Scialfa and her band opening this homecoming show, and Jackson Browne in for REM. While Bruce joined REM at each of the previous concerts, tonight we had a trifecta as he played in the opening set with Patti, in the second set with Browne, and one of the longest headlining sets of the run (rivaling St. Paul in both length, at 21 songs, and performance). Speaking of trifectas, surprise guest Eddie Vedder joined the E Street Band for a powerful trio of „No Surrender,“ „Darkness on the Edge of Town,“ and Pearl Jam's „Betterman.“ And continuing to speak of trifectas, the encore opened with not one, not two, but three classic CCR songs with Fogerty. But the emotional highlight of an emotional show had to be in the post-„Rising“ slot (formerly occupied by „Because the Night“ with Michael Stipe), when there was an audible gasp as Browne came out for „Racing in the Street.“ As one concertgoer said, „all the air was sucked out of the building.“ In a good way. Browne's own set included topical songs like „For America“ and „Lives in the Balance,“ and Little Steven finally took a bow on a song of his that has cropped up at several other VFC shows this month, joining Jackson for „I Am a Patriot.“ A fine end to a righteous tour.

Nö habt ihr nicht…..aber mal ehrlich, bis Eddie in einer Liga mit Bruce und Neil ist dauert es noch ein klein wenig. Vielleicht kann man das in 10 Jahren differenzierter betrachten aber für viele is Eddie doch so oder so nur der Knödler der grunge-songs singt. Das wird er auch so schnell nicht los
Übrigens:
Eddie was absolutely phenominal. Bruce made a quick intro, Eddie comes out,
very dignified and gracious as always. He plays guitar and trades verses with
Bruce on No Surrender and Darkness On The Edge Of Town, sharing the mic at
times with Bruce. There was no holding back, his voice was so strong and
confident, just belting it out. Like he's been singing these songs for 20 years
(which he probably has in his bedroom)Then after Darkness ed steps to the mic and says bruce asked me to play this
song, and since he's the boss and im the employer….which leads to Better Man,
with Bruce taking the lead vocal on the 2nd verse, sounding a little awkward at
times. Clarence had a sax solo at the end, then they just jammed with Bruce
ripping through a long and blistering guitar solo to end it. DY-NO-MITE!Crowd went wild when Eddie came out….went wild when he sang….went wild when
Better Man started, even singing along. And there were a couple of „Eddie
Eddie“ chants, very loud too. He was very well recieved by the bruce crowd, to
say the least. But he delivered, he really nailed his vocals on the 2 bruce

Erster Satz stimmt immer noch, natürlich.
Aber:
Gestern nacht in der Musikbar meines Vertrauens, als mein zweitliebster DJ sowohl „Racing In The Streets“ als auch „Southern Man“ spielte, wurde mir klar:
Der Vergleich hinkt wirklich. Ein gestern von mir imaginiertes, „objektives“ Vergleichen ist zumindest im Fall Springsteen Vs. Young nicht möglich , ohne dass jeder einen Standpunkt hat, der ganz deutlich zu einem der beiden Partei bezieht.
Ich verstehe natürlich, was man am Boss so toll findet, nur ist es mein Geschmack nicht so sehr.Tschüß, E-Streeter. Mein nächster Beitrag hier muss dann doch durch ein Naturereignis wie Springsteen-Konzertbesuch oder Dylan-covert-Springsteen herausgefordert werden.

Vergleicht mal sachlich so weit es geht.
Gesang,Songwriting,Instrumentalist,Liveakteur und vielleicht noch die Fähigkeiten als Produzent.
Gesang:
Bruce ist klar besser,hat die varierbareble Stimme als die zu hohe Stimme von Neil,nervt etwas bei längerem Zuhören…Songwriting:
Sind beide weltklasse,aber da liegt Bruce bisschen besser.Der Boss hat in seiner Karriere immer Lieder geschrieben die Klassiker wurden bzw. die das Zeug haben es zu werden.Neil hat nicht konstant Songs geschrieben die nachhaltig die Popwelt beeindruckt hat.Instrumentalist:Da liegen beide etwa gleichauf,beide sehr gute Gitarristen,Harmonika-Spieler,Pianisten usw.
Liveakteur:
In diesem Punkt ist Bruce wohl der beste in der ganzen Welt,habe ihn schon öfters live gesehen und es ist ein besonderes Ereignis,das man nie vergisst,die Hingabe ist unereichbar.Neil ist live schwankend,sehr launisch.Produzent:Bruce hat z.B. für Gary US Bonds,Southside Johnny,Grushecky oder sich selbst großartig produzent mit viel Kreativität und Neil? :blink:

Next week, The „Kerry Rising!“ show brings together John Wesley Harding, Marshall Crenshaw, David Poe and others, for a night of Springsteen covers. Each artist will play two Bruce songs at this Concerts for Change event, to be held at the Knitting Factory in New York on Monday, October 25.
