5. Gil Scott-Heron – Whitey on the Moon (1971) (Gil Scott-Heron)
von: Pieces of a Man (Flying Dutchman, 1971; CD: The Revolution Begins – The Flying Dutchman Masters, 3 CD, BGP/Ace Records, 2012)A rat done bit my sister Nell
With Whitey on the moon
Her face and arms began to swell
And Whitey’s on the moonI can’t pay no doctor bills
But Whitey’s on the moon
Ten years from now I’ll be paying still
While Whitey’s on the moonYou know, the man just upped my rent last night
Cause Whitey’s on the moon
No hot water, no toilets, no lights
But Whitey’s on the moonI wonder why he’s uppin’ me?
Cause Whitey’s on the moon?
Well I was already given him fifty a week
And now Whitey’s on the moonTaxes takin‘ my whole damn check
The junkies make me a nervous wreck
The price of food is goin’ up
And if all that crap wasn’t enough
A rat done bit my sister Nell
With Whitey on the moonHer face and arms began to swell
And Whitey’s on the moonWith all that money I made last year
For Whitey on the moon
How come I ain’t got no money here?
Hmm, Whitey’s on the moonYou know I just about had my fill
Of Whitey on the moon
I think I’ll send these doctor bills
Airmail specialTo Whitey on the moon

Raised brows and penises
await response from fly Venus’
who grace each sidewalk square
with a mastery of movement and mod
misadmired by the massesAll they can or want to see
are scantily-clad asses that swing
and beg to be slapped
during self-satisfying sex
Say my nameAin’t no sistas or mommas here to protect
just tricks
and bitches to catch
in traps
of covert compliments and Jesus’ judgmentStrong-willed women and divas seen as
asking-for-it, homewrecking whores with
no moralsSounds like Salem and slavery to me

„Pieces Of A Man“ wohl gesamtheitlich Gil Scott-Heron’s Großtat …

7. Oscar Brown Jr. – Forty Acres and a Mule (Oscar Brown, Jr.)
(Intro)
If I’m not mistaken I once read,
Durin’ that short spell I spent in school,
Where ev’ry slave set free was s’posed to get,
For slavin’,
Forty acres and a mule. Now ain’t no tellin’ how much work was done
By my ancestors under slaver’s rule,
But sure as hell the total’s got to run
At least,
To forty acres and a mule. Now I’m not sayin’ this to see folks sweat,
‘Cause I’m not bitter,
Neither am I cruel,
But ain’t nobody paid for slavery yet;
About my forty acres and a mule…We had a promise that was taken back,
An’ when we hollered it was, ‘hush, be cool!’
Well me, I’m bein’ rowdy, hot an’ black:
I want my forty acres an’ my mule!Don’t tell me not to get myself upset,
Don’t look at me like I’m some kinda ghoul,
Jus’ answer quietly,
When do I get
My goddam forty acres and my mule?No thanks, I’ll take my own self out to lunch.
No thanks, I’ll dig me my own swimmin’ pool,
An’ lay an’ play aroun’ with my own bunch,
If I git forty acres and a mule.‘Cause interest gotta go on jus’ like rent,
(I may be crazy, but I ain’t no fool.)
One hundred years of debt at ten percent,
Per year,
Per forty acres,
An’ per mule.
Now add that up
An’ ooooeeee looka there!
No wonder y’all called great grandmaw a jew’l.
Jus’ pay me that an’ call the whole thing square
Yes lordy,
Forty acres and a mule!--
