Hawkins hatte sechs Tage zuvor mit „Woody’n You“ die mutmasslich erste Bebop-Aufnahme eingespielt – wir hörten sie in der Hawkins-Sendung. „Disorder at the Border“ ist eine Blues-Linie von Hawkins, die er bis zum Ende seiner Karriere spielen sollte. Dizzy Gillespie soliert zuerst, zunächst mit Dämpfer, dann mit offenem Horn – mit dem Dämpfer klingt er noch schwer nach Roy Eldridge, auf der offenen Trompete ist er schon er selbst. Hawkins folgt und geht gleich in die Vollen – mit Enthusiasmus und Biss. Das Riff, das die Bläser hinter ihm spielen, stammt übrigens aus „The Jumping Blues“ von Jay McShann – also von Charlie Parker!
